Chronic pain is recognized as a painful state that exceeds the normal healing time. It can be continuous, have regular periods or intermittent crises, lasting longer than three months. It has a great impact on the patient’s daily activities, leading them to focus almost exclusively on pain. This tendency leads to a vicious cycle of fear, difficulty in performing usual activities, tendency and pain.

Acute Pain is characterized as that which appears suddenly and has a limited duration. Generally, it has the function of alerting the individual to the existence of any damage or general dysfunction in the body. This type of pain can last for up to three months, and if not treated properly it can evolve into chronic pain.

Disruptive pain is a sign that pain presents despite taking analgesic regularly to control chronic pain. It’s called breakthrough pain because it “breaks” the pain relief you experience with pain relievers. As a rule, it appears quickly, lasts up to an hour, and the sensation is much like chronic pain but it is more intense. It can happen several times a day, even when chronic pain is controlled with medication.

Fibromyalgia is a chronic disease characterized by generalized musculoskeletal pain and hypersensitivity in different parts of the body. Classified as a rheumatologic disease, it is related to a failure of the pain suppression mechanism and not to parts of the body injured. The highest incidence occurs in women between 20 and 50 years of age and its main symptoms are pain, fatigue, cognitive problems and sleep disturbance.

Each year, about 12.7 million people are diagnosed with some form of cancer. Among these, it is estimated that more than half develop pain, which can be caused by different reasons, such as the primary tumor, metastases, or diagnostic or therapeutic procedures such as chemotherapy, among others. Discopathy or degenerative disc disease is one of the most common causes of back pain. It is characterized by an alteration caused by wear (dehydration) of the intervertebral discs, this wear usually occurs after 40 years of age, without showing any apparent symptoms. Sometimes, this wear is supported by ruptures in the peripheral disc, causing pain in the spinal region.
